ADA Truncated Dome Bump Pads

How Are Truncated Dome Used

Truncated domes are designed for assisting a visually impaired pedestrian by providing an unmistakable pattern of raised cones alerting someone of potential danger ahead.

Truncated domes are typically found at commuter stations or crosswalks where a visually impaired pedestrian may not otherwise sense danger.  The cones on domes are placed in such a way that pedestrians with a cane or simply wearing soled shoes will contact one or more cones alerting them to avoid potential danger.

Truncated domes are found everywhere these days – in front of your local supermarket, commuter station, city crosswalks, schools, government offices and more.
